With just a few hours of your time we can sit down and map out what is important to you and prepare and implement your considered, heartfelt and individually prepared financial plan.
I will put you on the path to financial freedom by…
Explaining how money works, in plain English (it’s a jargon free zone)
Finance isn’t your specialty, so let me cut through the jargon and explain financial strategies and concepts in simple, plain English. I want you to feel comfortable and in control, and understand how money works.
Get real on where your money goes (because you won’t live a happy life until you do)
Do you know where all your money goes? I mean all of it? Have you ever done a spending plan? If you have, do you stick to it? It’s a simple enough statement to say you’ll never get ahead if you spend more than you earn. But do you really understand the meaning behind that term? You have got to spend less than you make, consistently. To do that, you need to understand where your money goes and where you might be able to cut back, or make better choices with your money.
Deal with credit card debt (you are not alone, but let’s get you out of the credit club, it’s a dud)
You cannot get healthy, wealthy or wise with credit card debt. That’s it, end of story. Let’s deal with all your credit card debts and get them paid off and get you feeling back in control.
Help you save and keep you on track (so you can start to think big)
I’ll teach you the benefits of a good, regular savings plan. How do you start? How much can you afford? What will your savings milestones look like? Making a plan is one thing, sticking to it is quite another. It’s much more difficult and takes willpower and perseverance. Like exercise, having a personal trainer gives you better results than doing it all alone. Think of me as your financial personal trainer, I am here to help you work out a savings plan that you are comfortable with, and I’ll help you stick to it, even when temptations are all around and times can be tough.
Protect yourself and your family (you need to make sure you, and everyone you love is protected, always)
Building your assets is vitally important for your future, but did you realise protecting your assets is equally important? If something happens to you, or your partner, how will you continue the life you are used to? How much will it cost to maintain your lifestyle now and into the future? If you don’t have the right amount of insurance your life may face drastic and unpleasant changes just at a time when you should be focusing on other things, like your health and wellbeing. I want you to have comfort knowing that when your health isn’t rosey, your life, and the life of your family, can continue in the best possible way, without the added stress of money worries.
Invest your money (now we’re cooking with gas!)
Saving is one thing and without the discipline of putting something aside week after week, you will never be able to invest. Investing is taking it up a notch, making sure the money you have saved is working as hard as possible for you. Where to invest is difficult to know. That’s my job. I have access to the market and the experience to help you navigate the myriad of opportunities and find the best options available for you.
Get you the best structured mortgage (so you can get rid of that debt and invest and pay less tax)
So, you’ve saved enough and bought you first home. Good for you, that is a massive achievement! But now you’ve got a house and a mortgage, so it’s time to work out how to pay your mortgage down, as quickly as possible, so you keep more of your hard earned money in your pocket, and give as little as possible back to the bank.
Help you get what you really want out of life (dream your dream, and move towards it, every day in every way)
You can achieve your dreams, I always do. First we need to talk through and understand what you really want out of life. Are you prepared to make the changes to make that happen? Then we’ll make a plan that clearly shows you how you are going to reach your life goals. Sure, your plan may change over time, as your priorities change, and we’ll adapt to your change of mind or circumstances. Without a plan in place you will find it a lot more difficult to reach your goals. You know the old saying, failing to plan, is planning to fail. It’s particularly true with finances.
Make sure you take care of your retirement (you’re going to spend 20 to 30 years there)
You want to stop working when it suits you, when it’s the right time for you, and with the lifestyle that you want. Your need to ensure your money is ready when you want it, that you have maximised your income in retirement, so you can continue to do the things you most enjoy doing. Retiring is not the end of life as you know it, it’s the beginning of your life the way you want to live it.
Look after your estate (yes, we will talk about the end game and make sure you and everyone you love is taken care of)
Family matters are at the heart of financial planning. Making sure everyone you care about is looked after is so important. Making sure you are looked after if you can no longer look after yourself is even more important. Let’s make sure your estate is sorted out so when something does happen to you or a loved one, it will upset you but not your financial plans.
Keep you informed (and teach you how to ignore stupid headlines)
In good times and bad I will keep you up to date with market moves, if they are affecting your portfolio. I will also tell you to ignore the daily news, as it won’t affect your long term goals. You have more important things to worry about than the state of your portfolio at any given time, I get that, and it’s my job to keep an eye on these things for you.
Connect you with experts (I’ve got a lot of great colleagues who will be able to help when it’s beyond my calling)
I’ve got great friends in high places! I can refer you to trusted advisers in areas that I am not qualified to deal with. That might be a conveyancer, a lawyer, an accountant, or any other professional you might need.
I would also love to work with your existing professional relationships. The idea is that we all work together and make sound decisions that will make your financial life more seamless to manage.
It’s all about making it easier for you to be who you want to be and live the life you want.
